DOKOUPIL
On the Road to Paradise

25.8.2025 – 25.10.2025

Korunní 95, Vinohrady, Praha

The exhibition presents the latest works by the artist, who returns after twenty years to the themes and forms of his work from 2000–2005. At that time, his “whipped” abstraction became a space for introspection, intuitive gestures, and the search for a new visual language within abstract painting.

Dokoupil’s current lyrical abstraction is not merely an aesthetic gesture but a path of exploration. Colour, line, and structure become the language of classical painting, reconsidered in a contemporary context. Whipped layers of pigment, rhythmic lines, and openness of expression create a pictorial space full of tension and stillness. On the road to paradise is not a return, but a continuation a journey that never truly ended.

“Nothing is in the mind that was not first in the senses.” John Locke
